Our policy on prescriptions
Our veterinary practice is able to supply pet owners with Prescription Only Medicines, Category V (POM-Vs).
We are happy to provide you with prescriptions for these medicines, which can be filled by another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy.
Legally, we are only able to prescribe POM-Vs for animals “under our care”. To comply with this legislation, our policy is to re-examine these pets at least every six months, though this may vary in individual circumstances.
If you require a written prescription or you wish to collect a repeat prescription please allow 48 hours’ notice for our veterinary practice to issue the prescription or order in your pets medication.
The Wylie Veterinary Centre is only able to refund blister-packed medication and this can only be done within 28 days of purchase. Unfortunately, we are not able to refund any medication purchased under pet insurance.
A prescription may not be appropriate if your pet is an in-patient or requires immediate treatment.
Certain drugs, for instance phenobarbitone, can only be supplied for one month at a time, by law.
On request our vets will gladly inform you of the price of any veterinary medicines we supply or answer any specific questions you may have regarding prescriptions.
If you wish to request a repeat prescription, please complete our new online form!
